being a network admin for a medium business that is 100% Macs, i am extremely concerned by Lion and its lack of server ability. looking at Lion over the last few days has depressed me somewhat. there are ZERO changes to WGM and Server Admin - and the new Server thing is just a joke to admins in a professional environment.
so overall, i am rather dissapointed :(
There's no indication on Apple's Lion preview page that they're packaging a gutted server package with additional add-ons to be sold separately.
currently its all in the one bundle, but i believe they will charge extra for server essentials once they release it.
It's all speculation at this point, but a description like that makes it sound like ALL of Lion Server is included in each copy of Lion.
it kind of did! but it doesnt seem very apple :/

No, PN is when the Apple Push Notification server tells your phone you have a notification. The apps do not need to be running. Its suppose to save you battery life by not having multiple apps open all the time.
so then how will it work exactly when i turn all the PN's on? Will i get alerts in the form of a text message? or will it have a little number in the corner of the app??

In that case, bring it on, I eat punks like you for breakfast! :D
Maybe this should be a new feature for the folding widget: to look when you will be overtaken by someone or when you overtake someone.
No can do, sry.
I too thought this would have been a nice feature and asked EOC to maybe put that data in the xml file they provide.
They will not do it, as it takes away any necessity to go watch your stats on their page (they still do like traffic to the their pages). I understand. The best thing you can do is set yourself a goal to overtake -and maybe a threat - and start multiple instances of the widget showing their positions. :o
They did 'ok' some other changes which will be available through the widget when they implement it (well maybe a few days later). Nothing too fancy mind you, but still nice.
Not as popular as i hoped this widget :(. But my hopes were probably way to high up there :D.
Well...
Stay tuned!

I think that Apple was probably aiming to make Pages into a desktop publishing program but then found halfway through that most of the features added in were pretty similar to what word has. Maybe that's why Jobs decided to put it head to head with Word?
Word is great for standard, no non-sense typing. But as soon as you start getting a long document with various pictures and a self-updating table of contents (ie proper layout and publishing stuff) it becomes more and more awful. Once you have an 40+ pages almost everytime you move an image slightly you know its going to destroy your document. It has brought me to the point that I just want to throw my computer out of the window various times. (This was a PC by the way, I always forgive my mac by just telling myself that microsoft are the people that put me in this nightmarish situation  ).
Lets just hope Apple implements some major improvements to Pages in the next release. I wouldn't mind having a program that can do layout AND word-processing properly!

I must say it has been fun watching the stats, accumulating points and moving up the chart. The only thing at the moment i have running is the GPU system tray client which seems to be doing pretty well by itself. Oh and by the way i will catch you one day DeSnousa.
Well you are 3 months away at the moment! Hopefully by then I will have a new rig, but I look forward to the day you catch me!

I'm sorry you didn't understand me. I really am and didn't mean to insult you.
But I didn't put a smiley because it wasn't really all that sarcastic. It was a pretty straighforward comment about how Macrumors posters are temperamental and sometimes hypocritical.
Okay, now I get it.
You're right! The quality of MacRumors forum commentary rivals the quality of the Consumer Reports reviews.

Did they give you the full HE discount though - Leopard for 58.75? Or did they charge 75?
I payed 76.50 which is what they call the Individual Educator discount. I wasn't aware that there are different education discounts.

This may be true - further analysis is needed. Either way, concrete roads (like interstates and state highways) are much more resistant to this type of wear than asphalt. And again, the real culprits are soil conditions and thermal expansion/contraction.
If that's the case, then 18 wheels are going to heat up a road faster than four. I'd also like to see the impact of braking on road surfaces. I'm sure it's significant.
It's all more or less pointless because if you want to argue efficiency, the trucks don't rank very high on the scale. Trains win that argument hands down.
If you really want to argue the issue then it should be about how many extra miles or lanes of asphalt are needed to support all the commercial trucks on the road. I'll bet it's a lot.

gee, the retail stores would speak out against something that would hurt their sales, wouldn't they?
apple is providing an alternative just like retail stores provided alternatives to going out to a theater when VHS was released. im certainly not saying it's better, i would never download an itunes movie, because i'd rather have a physical dvd. but now i have the choice.

Wow... short sighted on the networks part. I'm surprised.... no difference than just having another TV in your house, just on your Tablet. It would be interesting to know more about their motivation behind this... maybe they want to go direct? In other words, maybe Discovery and the other channels want to sell direct subscriptions and not go through channel partners like Time Warner?
If that is the case... I smell disaster for the networks. Who wants to buy individual channels for their computers, iPads or other devices? Not me? It would have to be dirt cheap.
Hummm.... thinking about it... maybe it's not so dumb? If each channel was $.99 and I could pick Ala-carte who I wanted, I know my Cable bill would go from $40 per-month to less than $10. Maybe they are onto something thinking about it?

This evening at Comic-Con, Bungie announced that they will be releasing a "Halo Reach" limited edition bundle. It will be available on September 14th, the same day the game releases. It is essentially the same as the new 250GB "S" version, just with a different color and design on the outside. Plus it comes with some extra stuff, like most bundles...

You mean we can't spend significantly less money on taxes and have the same quality of government? Shocker...
Yeah but some states have increased or set taxes virtually on everything and still managed to overspend their budget *cough*California*cough*.
Gotta find a balance.
