Well at first it comes in this great little box, after opening it I was amazing. Not at the size of the iPod but rather on how much it wighes or I should say how much it does not. Its very light, while driving for 15 mins I could not feel it in my shirt pocket. I installed the cd then pluged the iPod and downloaded 130 songs (I got the 512mb version) onto it. All seems great till now.
I am now in my car driving home, and get a taste of newest iPod from Apple. The sound it great, to my normal user ears it sound as good as it can. The controls are easy to use and are in the right place. I find that not having a screen is a bit on the downside since I got lost a few times trying go forward or go back to a song I heard. For my use on the other its great not having a screen, I just put the songs I want and hit the gym.
iPod Shuffle vs iPod
Here is the bug question, and a hard one unless you know what you want. I read a few post on how some people wanted to get rid of there iPod (5gb-10gb) to get an iPod Shuffle (some here and other forums). The iPod shuffle is for people with a small playlist or who are on the move a lot. I hit the gym 5 times a week and do many other sports. The problem I had was that the iPod is to large for me to carry around with me while doing sports. The iPod shuffle is very light and does the job I need very well in this area. Unless you need the protibility of the iPod Shuffle when doing any kind of sports your normal iPod is the better deal.
Final thoughts
All-in-all the iPod Shuffle is a great product, its small, sounds great and look good. I can use it as a USB thumb drive aswell, thou its not as fast as a normal one. I am very pleased with it so far and inted to use it a lot. If your looking for a flash mp3 player then this is the one for you, if you have a large collection and don�t mind the extra wight then stick with your normal iPod, I for one have two iPods, the U2 and the iPod Shuffle both are great players for different uses.

On a sidenote, I'm just asking as a courtesy, if you do plan on smoking to either step out of line or ask people around you first. I'm not going to the grove or anything, but I have waited in lines outdoors for events where it wasn't easy to just move/leave but standing where I can smell the smoke from someone smoking nearby is absolutely unbearable.

Food Packaging is a HUGELY moot topic here in the UK.
Namely fresh goods (fruit/veg/meats etc) and how completely wastefully packaged up they have all become. It disgusts me when for example I see fruit such as apples or pears, sat in polystyrene trays and then shrink wrapped and labelled up!
Chances are, you are actually paying more for this packaging than the products within, let alone the negative impacts it has on the environment in terms of production and (if any) recycling.
Same applies with a whole myriad of food types, and its more a cultural issue perhaps than anything. We have become obsessed with a certain expectation of 'perfection' and that everything must be delivered and presented to us in ship shape condition, free of artifacts or the possibility of contamination.
It would be great to see this issue addressed (chiefly in supermarkets might I add) face on, and it might be more a campaign of advertising than perhaps packaging (of the type I mention)
If however, certain packaging is to be dropped it will have to be replaced with something that still fulfils certain levels of quality & protection etc. This is certainly a design challenge on a few levels, but if there is one thing designers are good at, its thinking laterally about a problem and actually seeing the negatives in existing products/systems etc as being fantastic gateways for improvement.
Just my two pennies!

I hope this is standard on ios5. It is pretty rediculous for the data to be there and yet the ipad doesnt use it
if they do include that feature in ios5, i'm sure they'll require an ipad 3 to be able to use it.

Under the iChat preferences on the Video tab, at the bottom there is an option for audio from the internal mic or Line-in. It may say none too if you don't have an internal I think.

I sent my 15" PB to service because of the horizontal lines issue. They replaced the LCD screen, and yes, the lines are still there, but fainter. Now it seems though as my Airport won't work. What could be wrong?

thanks so much for the replies. i gave the ps3mediaserver app a try and the results were better than i expected. i was worried that on the fly transcoding would degrade video to webcam quality or something! hopefully between that and the wd nas, i'll have a decent set of options for downloaded content.
and fingers crossed that either a more competent browser or a better canadian netflix selection will show up on the horizon someday.
in the meantime i just looked at the trailer for wipeout HD fury, @-SD- you have a surprising insight into exactly the type of game that i'd enjoy, thanks! :)

A lot of the times if you don't properly drive a high impedance can, a lot of its sound won't be as tight and crisp as it should, so it's not just the volume output. I remember the first time I heard a high quality tube amp on a HD650 in a store, it was the first time it made a song I really know and like have a bass that sounded like an actual kick drum rather than a soft boom boom noise, I was pretty amazed.Yup, I was really surprised when I started using a headphone amp for the first time. Its a powerful difference.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Have you plugged your hd650's into a mbp? How did it sound?
